Michael Wagner BASS
Born in Wolfsbach in Lower Austria's Mostviertel. Master classes with Ks Brigitte Fass bands, Ks Walter Berry, Kai Wessel and Ks Robert Holl. Singing lessons with Ks Artur Korn. 2004 to 2007 member of the ensemble at the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck. Afterwards working as an international freelancer. Since 2013 guest and since 2015/16 permanent member of the ensemble at the New Music Theater Linz. There he interpreted, among others, Marcus Schouler in Bolcom's "Mc Teague" (nominated for the "Austrian Music Theater Prize" as best leading actor). His roles so far have included Figaro in "Le Nozze di Figaro", Leporello in Mozart's "Don Giovanni", Osmin in "The Abduction from the Seraglio", Ollendorf in Millöcker's "Beggar Student", ghost messenger and dyer Barak in Richard Strauss' masterpiece "The Woman Without Shadow", further as Peter in "Hansel and Gretel", Mephistopheles in "La damnation de Faust" by Hector Berlioz and Prince Gremin in P.I. Tschaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin", Baron Weps in Zeller's "Der Vogelhändler", Oreste in Strauss' "Elektra", Rocco in Beethoven's Fidelio, as king in Verdi's Aida, Bartolo in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and as Gurnemanz in Wagner's Parzival. In the current 2022/23 season he will be making his role debut as Hans Sachs in Richard Wagner's "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg" in the 10th anniversary production of the "Neues Linzer Musiktheater". Kaspar will follow in Weber's Der Freischütz in autumn 2023. In the concert field, Michael Wagner has worked with the Lower Austrian Tonkünstler Orchestra, the Concilium Musicum, LÁrpeggione, the LÓrfeo Baroque Orchestra, the Harmonices Mundi, the Austrian Salonists, the Johann Strauss Ensemble, the Vienna Academy and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra. Appearances at the Linz festival "Klassik am Dom", the "Rheingau-Festival", the "Brucknertage St.Florian" and in the Linz Brucknerhaus. Organization of a song recital in the Villa Nobel at the "Santa Tecla" festival in San Remo and in autumn 2021 invitation to the "Austrian Cultural Forum" in Rome for the design of a song recital with Lower Austrian composers. Last year heard with Anton Bruckner's "Te Deum" at the Brucknertage St. Florian and at the Lower Austrian "Serenade Concerts" with a song program. In autumn 2023 engaged with Haydn's Seasons at the Brucknerhaus Linz.
